At the age of 58, my husband had a larygectomy. When we started reaching out to Ultra Voice with questions. The Salesperson was very friendly and very encouraging that technology was being updated regularly and that with the new Ultra Voice Plus II, AI applications would be coming out soon that would allow my husband to choose his own voice. My husband was excited at the possibility because his stoma is very sunken, making it very difficult to use a TPE and we all know how hard those little microphones are! Working with the company was a breeze, but then we got the Ultra Voice and quickly realized it is an absolute waste of money. Which insurance won't cover by the way. First, it looks just like the original equipment from the late '90's. I think even the plastic is the same. The construction reminds me of an old cheap boombox when I was an '80's preteen. The mouthpiece itself, even though molded by a professional dentist, is too loose and doesn't stay in the top of his mouth, it falls out every few words. And the piece is made with huge wings on the side; not like the photos on their website. The wings cause it to be extra bulky and make him look like a chipmunk and feel even more ridiculous. The video of the ONE gentleman using it (funny how they don't have videos of lots of people using it and only 4 very generic reviews on their website), the guy is sitting down and still, but this contraption has so much feedback that my husband had to turn it down so far, it was like he was whispering through the machine. The microphone is zero help with that aspect. I had asked about the "training videos" they had mentioned previously and they just told us to google them; never to be found. When I asked about when the new AI applications were coming out, they just kept telling me that they were delayed due to a high sales/production volume, and maybe next year, but don't worry, we would be the first ones to know as a new owner. I asked them how many they sell in a year and he said about 124...not sure that's a super high sales volume for cheap plastic, a lot of wires and a mouthpiece that the dentist makes for them. There are still no plans for those upgrades. What's even better is that when we finally got the piece, it broke 2 days later; a random chunk of the pink part just fell off onto the floor. We sent it back and they sent it back to us how  you see it in the video - just shoved into the box and there's no belt clip, so I guess he's just supposed to carry it around with him now, but after many tries of trying to get one, there's no response from them. This company is VERY PREDATORY!!! I would highly recommend you save your $5,500! They are clearly preying on people's NEED and WANT TO SPEAK!! A basic thing the rest of us take for granted every day!! I have to be my husband's voice because he's out of options that all this company cares about is money!! At 124 sold per year for $5,500/piece, those 3 employees are making a total of at least $682,000, for approx $227k each per year...not a bad income in an area where the average individual makes about $73k working hard and not taking advantage of others medical misfortunes!!
